There are two things that you can count on in life: being born and dying. Everyone will experience death, which makes it inevitable part of human life. According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, there are approximately 2,596,993 deaths. The death rates are approximately 821.5 deaths per 100,000 population, and the life expectancy is 78.8. Nurses tend to avoid the subject of death and dying, but fail to realize that death is a part of the holistic care that is promised to clients. In saying this, nurses must deal with their own death in order to help someone else cope with dying or death of a family member. The nurses must be compassionate and show empathy to help the client and the family cope. According to Taylors, the different types of death include natural, sudden, and suicide. Natural death is when a person dies naturally like in their sleep from old age. This is expected. Sudden death is unexpected like when someone dies in a car crash. Suicide is when a person kills themselves. When understanding the stages of grief, the nurse should know that the stages don’t necessarily go in order. First is the denial stage. Denial is a coping technique that people use to protect themselves. An example of denial would be like a client saying â€Å"I’m not sick† or â€Å"I am not dying. The doctor does not know what he is talking about. I will get a second opinion.† Anger is the next stage, which is often directed at the family or healthcare members. Anger is when the client, family, or both are being rude. As the nurse, since you know that the client and the family are going through the grieving process, do not take the rudeness personal. Bargaining is making a deal with God to prolong life (Taylor). A patient might say, â€Å"Lord, if you save my life, I promise to go to church every Wednesday and Sunday.† Depression results from the loss experienced because of health care status and hospitalization. During this time the Bolsheviks faced massive opposition to their rule in the form of the White Armies, led by the former officers of the Tsarist state, and also from intervention by the forces of foreign countries. The Bolsheviks were surrounded, and often outnumbered by their opponents, and had no experienced military commanders. At times, their situation seemed hopeless. They had to move their forces and supplies over huge distances, making it difficult to maintain effective control. Of Mice and Men Film Analysis Essay Behind every admirable movie lies the diminutive details that really outstand the excellence of it. These details comprise a wide variety, such as structure, sound, camerawork, movements, etc. Though we might not perceive all these when we observe movies, our brain does absorb it and then furthermore combines it to create the grand effect in which we do recognize. For the first scene of Of Mice and Men, we studied it and broke it down to pieces. We realized that the structure of the scene was that it consisted of three sequences. The initial sequence took place in a train beginning with a melody of slow tempo, complementing the dragging and depressing sound it comprised. The camerawork focused the viewer on the opening credits, as it allowed a flare of light to creep in behind cracks every time a credit was displayed, drawing the audiences eyes to it. They were also contrasting colors, as the credits were in white and the background was deep in black and blue. The camera lens also zoomed in to a close up shot of George Miltons eyes, informing the audience that it would be his eyes we see the movie through, as well as he was deep in thought. The start of the following sequence was determined when the soundtrack began to speed up to a more panicky and loud tempo, alongside a change in location, a field. As a lady was running through the field, her spotlight in this mid shot was clear as she was wearing a bright red dress and the setting around her was blurred. Cross-cutting made a crucial part as it created more tension. It viewed George and Lennie escaping frantically through the tracking movement, as well as showing the men chasing after them. When George and Lennie hid in the irrigation ditch, the point of view was through their eyes. Since they were concealed behind grass, the camera would show strands of grass lowering from above while facing outside at the men. The last sequence began when the panicky music toned down to a calm tune, and the train noises interrupted the background. This took place in the train after Lennies and Georges runaway. The movement used was obviously inpoint/outpoint as the train audio connected them. Overall, I believe the opening scene was shot as a flashback because creating a flashback puts the audience in the situation, allowing them to feel the actual tension and approach, versus just hearing about it. I also feel that the movements, sounds, camerawork, etc. , were executed the way they were due to the fact that it enhanced the situation furthermore.
